SET Foundation ClassIf you would like to volunteer in any way at the school on or off of campus or for school events, you MUST be Safe Environment Trained.
The Online Foundation class is a great way to complete the training from the comfort of your own home at a time that is most convenient for you.
Not only would your Safe Environment Training give you the opportunity to volunteer at the school, it would also be valid if you ever wanted to volunteer at your parish or at any other Diocesan location. You would just need to let them know you are compliant with your Safe Environment Training and they can add your SET profile to their location.
Once your Foundation Training has been completed, to remain compliant, you would only be responsible to take the Annual Renewal in July, which is always offered online and is typically only 20-30 minutes long.
For instructions on how to attend the Foundation Class online please see below:-
- Create an account on the CMG Connect website
- Go to https://cmgconnect.org/
- Select Phoenix for the Diocese
- Click “Go to Diocese”
- Complete information listed under “Register for New Account”
- Please make sure your site is listed as St. Timothy Catholic School.
- Take the Foundation Class currently called, “Safe Environment for Lay Persons, Online Foundation – Safe Haven – It’s Up to You” (Blue/White background) or
- The Spanish version, Capacitación inicial de la Fundación: Videos "Refugio Seguro", paquete para llevar y verificación de antecedentes.
- Make sure you go through every bit of the training until it says it has been completed or some kind of wording saying you are finished.
- Create an account on the CMG Connect website

to complete this class. It takes less than 20 minutes to complete.
*Please note: In the past, there has been a 3-year grace period for people who did not renew annually before their SET account was archived. Effective July 1, 2022, there is no longer a grace period.. If you do not complete your SET Renewal annually, your SET account will be archived.

Defensive Driving Curriculum
If you would like to volunteer as a Mass Carpool Driver or think you may want to drive for fieldtrips, you will need to complete the Defensive Driving Curriculum. This class is valid for two years. The Driver Information Form offered at the end of the class must be completed annually.
This class is also done through the CMG Connect website and only takes about 15 minutes to complete. Please login to

Once the class has been completed, a completed Driver Information Form and a copy of your driver's license will need to be kept on file at your site location. If you decide to volunteer as a Mass Carpool driver, the Adult Liability Waiver will need to be completed and kept on file as well.
