Earning and maintaining a chapter of NJHS (National Junior Honor Society) is a proud accomplishment for St. Timothy Catholic School. The NJHS was established nationally to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, encourage responsible citizenship and develop character.
These values are in line with the SLE’s (Student Learning Expectations) that are a part of the daily curriculum taught at STCS. The acronym FACE is posted in each classroom and stands for Faith Filled Steward, Academic Achiever, Catholic World Citizen and Effective Communicator. When students are promoted to high school they are expected to transfer these values that have been ingrained in them during their time at STCS, not only in the classroom but in all of the extra curricular activities they have been involved in, including NJHS.
Each spring students in 6th and 7th grade are invited to apply to be a member of NJHS based upon the five pillars highlighted in the first paragraph above. A faculty committee reviews the applications and students who qualify are inducted at the End of the Year Assembly. The members meet once every two weeks during the school year and focus on service projects to benefit the school, parish, local and world communities. We are extremely proud of the NJHS members and their commitment to honoring the high standards set forth by the chapter, STCS, their families and most importantly themselves!
